{"id":1177,"date":"2018-03-05T15:20:27","date_gmt":"2018-03-05T23:20:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/k6hr.com\/?p=1177"},"modified":"2023-01-22T17:47:57","modified_gmt":"2023-01-23T01:47:57","slug":"its-a-6700","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/k6hr.com\/index.php\/2018\/03\/05\/its-a-6700\/","title":{"rendered":"I&#8217;ve Decided, It&#8217;s a FlexRadio 6700&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After careful consideration I&#8217;ve decided to purchase the FlexRadio 6700.<\/p>\n<p>It came down to several things:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>RX comparison between Flexradio 6600\/6700 nearly identical<\/li>\n<li>6700 only 3.5&#8243; in height<\/li>\n<li>8 panadapters vs. 4 on the 6600<\/li>\n<li>Contest BPF not enough reason for a 6600<\/li>\n<li>6600 mic connector on rear<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;m convinced the receivers in both radios &#8220;are close enough for jazz&#8221;, in that the RX specs are virtually identical. The 3.5&#8243; height means I can remove this shelf and fit the 6300,&nbsp; 6700, <em>and<\/em> an&nbsp; LP-500.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1172\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1172\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1172 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/k6hr.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/DSC00683-Medium.jpg\" alt=\"FlexRadio 6700 will reside here...\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1172\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I&#8217;ll remove this shelf to make room for the 6700 and the new LP-500 Station Monitor<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flexradio.com\/amateur-products\/flex-6000-signature-series\/flex-6000-comparison-table2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Comparisons<\/a> also show that the 6700 is better suited for satellite work, should I ever decide to move SAT operation off the Flex 5000. Investing in a 6600 also meant the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telepostinc.com\/LP-500.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LP-500<\/a> would not fit. I was able to engineer a clamp-on shelf for the LP-500, but I would much rather have it in the rack.<\/p>\n<p>I noticed the Flex website has announced that the 6600&#8217;s are shipping. This may cause a drop in the price of the FlexRadio 6700.
