A must have to ensure proper station operation.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1224\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1224\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1224 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/k6hr.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/LP-500.jpg\" alt=\"TelePost LP-500 Digital Station Monitor\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1224\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The next addition to the station<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>From the TelePost LP-500 Website:<\/h2>\n<p>What is LP-500?<br \/>\n<small><br \/>\n<big>The TelePost LP-500 is a digital station monitor which displays detailed information about the transmitted signal of a station. <\/big><\/small><\/p>\n<p><small><big>It displays the sampled signals in numerous formats including:<\/big><\/small><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><small><big> Power\/SWR <\/big><\/small><\/li>\n<li><small><big>Oscilloscope type display <\/big><\/small><\/li>\n<li><small><big>Spectrum display <\/big><\/small><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><small><big>The sampled signals are obtained by demodulating the RF,&nbsp; like in a traditional wattmeter, and should therefore work on any frequency for which there is a suitable directional coupler with the appropriate voltage scaling and time constants. <\/big><\/small><\/p>\n<p><small><big>It should be noted that demodulated samples are audio frequency based and not the same as RF samples. With some types of modulation, the demodulated audio is not a linear representation of the modulation signals, therefore the spectrum display works quite differently than a true spectrum analyzer. This doesn&#8217;t pose a problem for AM signals, where the demodulated audio is faithful to the modulation signal, but is a challenge for SSB and other signals without a carrier. For this reason, we have developed special test signals which allow for some traditional SSB tests to be performed, although the tests cannot be directly compared to measurements from a true spectrum analyzer. <\/big><\/small><\/p>\n<p><small><big>In many cases, though, similar information can be gleaned from the tests, and they can be used for comparative tests to see the effect of changes to the transmitting equipment.&nbsp;<\/big><br \/>\n<\/small><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1225\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1225\" style=\"width: 1129px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1225 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/k6hr.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/LP-500_rear.jpg\" alt=\"TelePost LP-500 rear panel\" width=\"1129\" height=\"545\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1225\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Business end of the LP-500<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1226\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1226\" style=\"width: 450px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1226 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/k6hr.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/lp-500Trap_PSWR.png\" alt=\"When you're linear, it shows!\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1226\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">So you know you&#8217;re perfectly linear!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>To utilize this feature two couplers are required (per radio in my case).
